Yuri’s career has included programmatic and organizational leadership roles in human service organizations in Monterey County, New York City, and San Francisco. Before beginning her service with the County, Yuri held the position of Vice President, Community Investments for United Way Monterey County. She is also a founding member of the Bright Futures for Monterey County Educational Partnership.
Yuri is responsible for advising the Supervisor on issues related to public safety, land use, water, and the environment. She is the primary liaison with City Governments in District Four. Supervisor Askew states "Yuri's expertise and experience with the County is critical, especially during the pandemic and economic recovery."
Yuri was born and raised in North Monterey County and is a mother to two children. She currently resides in Marina, California and serves as an elected member of the Monterey Peninsula College Board of Trustees.
Eric is passionate about creating vibrant and healthy communities where people can thrive and find fulfillment. His past work experience includes marketing, development, and community engagement roles with area nonprofits.
Eric is responsible for advising the Supervisor on issues pertaining to health, the County budget, communications, and cannabis. Supervisor Askew states “Eric brings a fresh perspective to the District Four staff. His experience in communications and non-profits will further enhance our team.”
Eric was born and raised in Salinas, California. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Arts Council for Monterey County, Salinas Valley Pride Celebrations, and Community Builders for Monterey County.
Kemar Davis serves as the Executive Assistant and enthusiastically brings his passion for public and community service to the District Four staff. Kemar is an administrative professional that brings a wealth of experience in the public sector and his career has been shaped through his previous roles at City of Seaside, Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, and most recently as a Deputy Court Clerk at Monterey County Superior Court.
Kemar enjoys figuring out what motivates people, finding common ground and getting things done. In his role as Executive Assistant and as a community volunteer, Kemar uses his strengths to build productive relationships and achieve solid results.
In 2016, Kemar relocated to Monterey County from his birthplace of Kingston, Jamaica. He currently serves as the lead technician for audio/video, and technology department at his church, volunteers on a weekly basis with Stepping Stone Outreach, and is pursuing his degree in Business Administration. Kemar is inspired daily by his wife and their daughter. In his free time, Kemar likes to travel, attend comedy shows and play soccer. His personal motto is "Fortis Cadere Cedere Non Potest."
Ali Al Zamle is a legal studies student at Cal State Monterey Bay who moved to the United States from Iraq in 2007. Ali's academic journey has been marked by dedication and success, reflecting his strong commitment to his studies. Currently employed as a Job Coach for individuals with disabilities, Ali advocates for their rights and well-being. He aspires to bring his passion and skills to serve Monterey County's District 4, aiming to make a positive impact on the community.
Ali is known for his determination and resilience. He approaches academic challenges and advocacy efforts with unwavering dedication, seeking to address important social issues and contribute positively to his community.
With a focus on justice and equality, Ali is well-equipped to make a meaningful difference in Monterey County and beyond with his future career. In his pursuit of excellence and community betterment, Ali is dedicated to giving his best to the residents of Monterey County's District 4 as an intern in the office. In Ali’s free time, he likes to skateboard and go to the beach. His favorite is Carmel Beach during the Winter season.
Bodhi is a Senior in High School with a deep passion for service to his community. He has done this on both a local and a state level by launching fundraisers and social initiatives in his own community and through California YMCA Youth and Government, where he serves as a member of the Board of Managers. His efforts to fundraise for the Food Bank for Monterey County earned him the Young Adult Philanthropist of the Year award in 2023 for the Central Coast.
Bodhi is responsible for working with others in the office of Supervisor Askew to determine how the county can better reach out to and collaborate with young leaders in learning environments. Bodhi looks forward to bringing his perspective as a particularly young person to help represent every constituent of district four.
Bodhi was born in Monterey and raised in Salinas, California. He serves as Student Representative to the Board of Trustees at his current High School, York. He is additionally a youth representative on the Board of the Central Coast YMCA and a Senior Mentor at Partners for Peace, a program which works with at risk youth in Salinas.
