Yuri’s career has included programmatic and organizational leadership roles in human service organizations in Monterey County, New York City, and San Francisco. Before beginning her service with the County, Yuri held the position of Vice President, Community Investments for United Way Monterey County. She is also a founding member of the Bright Futures for Monterey County Educational Partnership.
Yuri is responsible for advising the Supervisor on issues related to public safety, land use, water, and the environment. She is the primary liaison with City Governments in District Four. Supervisor Askew states "Yuri's expertise and experience with the County is critical, especially during the pandemic and economic recovery."
Yuri was born and raised in North Monterey County and is a mother to two children. She currently resides in Marina, California and serves as an elected member of the Monterey Peninsula College Board of Trustees.
Kera brings professional experience in journalism, environmental advocacy, and strategic communications, mostly based in Monterey County.
For nearly a decade she was a staff writer and assistant editor at the Monterey County Weekly, covering local government, water supply, and environmental policy. She went on to lead conservation outreach and community engagement at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. In those roles she managed more than 20 policy advocacy campaigns with a 95% success rate and launched the Museums for All program, which now welcomes more than 300,000 low-income visitors annually.
In her role with Supervisor Askew’s office, Kera leads communications, advises on policy, and supports community engagement and constituent services.
Kera grew up in Pennsylvania and is a 20-year resident of Seaside, where she and her husband are raising two kids. She’s served on the Seaside Environmental Commission, the International School of Monterey Board of Trustees, and the National Marine Sanctuary System’s Business Advisory Council.
Ari is an early-career professional with experience in transportation planning, community engagement, and public policy in Monterey County.
She began her career at the Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC), supporting Safe Routes to School efforts in North Monterey County and the Salinas Valley, Go831, and other active transportation programs. She contributed to participatory budgeting efforts that empowered community members to shape local infrastructure investments, supporting TAMC’s $1 million allocation for Safe Routes to School projects across the Salinas Valley and North County. Ari also led bilingual outreach, community engagement, and data-informed planning efforts to expand access to safe and active transportation options.
In her role with Supervisor Askew’s office, Ari handles policy research and analysis, constituent services, and community engagement, while expanding her expertise beyond transportation.
Born and raised in Monterey County, Ari is committed to public service and helping others. She is a first-generation college graduate, daughter of immigrants, and holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in International Relations from the University of San Diego.
