County of Monterey Supervisors, law enforcement, elected, business and community leaders held a Press Conference on January 15, 2025 to reaffirm the County’s commitment to protecting immigrant rights and launching a public education campaign for residents.

County of Monterey Board of Supervisors adopted the  2025 County Legislative Platform to include a section on "Protecting Monterey County Values" (pg 9) and a section on "Immigration Advocacy" (pg 20).

The County of Monterey has joined an amicus brief filed in federal court to oppose a recent executive order issued by President Donald Trump that seeks to limit birthright citizenship. (1/29/2025)

Monterey County Welcoming County Resolution Adopted January 14, 2025

Monterey County has an extensive legislative advocacy program which is annually adopted by the Board of Supervisors. Long before 2017, when President Trump started his first term of office, the County has had immigration reform and policies related to documented and undocumented residents at the top of its legislative priorities. This memo outlines those priorities and the County’s and state and federal legislative advocacy efforts related to immigration issues since 2017.
